Salted is a creative endeavor. Its purpose is not to fit one category or another, but to open the space for imagination, sharing of insights, difference, and stories of discovery, dignity, and growth.
Part of this project is the simple joy of creating things—making images, designs, and products that evoke a place, a passion, or an idea. This is why we start with the Nova York spirit of tenacity and teamwork, and why we consciously aim to stay grounded in the salted weathers and indefatigable culture of the Jersey Shore.

It is relevant to all of this that Pope Leo calls for recognition, elevation, and application of the values inherent in sports. It is also relevant that we live on a living world, where the climate and other planetary systems shape our existence and our prospects.
We want to defend and advance creativity in thought and artistry, in problem-solving and with it an ethics of solidarity. This means we have to be aware of and share insights about the evolution of artificial intelligence technologies, which might displace human insight, imagination, and judgment in ways that hurt all of us.
Salted stands for local existence at the human scale, for communities and local media, for big dreams and the daring required to explore, in ways large and small. It stands for the unique perspective of the artist’s mindset—making something that hasn’t existed before, infusing it with meaning.
We want to communicate the meaning, nature, and practice of creativity and craft. Creativity and imagination play a role in research, in development of new technologies and medicines, in the design of spacecraft that allow us to travel to and explore the far reaches of our Solar System.
Creativity and imagination are aspects of human intention, and it is evident when a greater degree of intention has been devoted to a particular place, structure, institution, or endeavor. This is one of the reasons we love the Nova Knicks—not only because of Villanova roots but because they exemplify mindful, creative problem-solving, adaptive excellence, and teamwork.

We love the lush, flowing, colorful ‘trencadis’ (broken tile) mosaics used by Antoni Gaudí to adorn some of his most iconic structures, because they embody and understanding of Nature as endlessly layered and multifaceted. An organic experience of the world, however much intention one adds to the effort, is inescapably multifaceted.
We celebrate wildlife, in particular the colorful variety of birds that inhabit our local environments, because they embody this fluid way of interacting with complex forces and cascading effects. This is also why we provide graphic services to Earth Civics, because Earth is all of us, and life depends on our being good stewards of the one planet we know to support life.

Over time, the Salted project will add more layers and new facets, projects and labels, partnerships, and platforms for creative expression and for fact-based reporting, illumination of science insights, and critical analysis. We will stick to our roots and look to celebrate both the already established artists and athletes that inspire millions and those that are just getting a start, while adding something new to our world.
We aspire to be part of a landscape of creative problem-solving, human solidarity, and adaptive excellence—principled energies our complex moment in history requires. We hope you will share and enjoy our news and creations, and stay with us as we work to build a growing platform for human expression.
