A special Salted project is the design and communications work donated to Earth Civics (earthcivics.org). Earth Civics is a nonprofit education, research, and civic empowerment initiative, focused on supporting local leadership for a holistic approach to reducing threats from the triple planetary crisis of climate change, Nature loss, and pollution.
Salted and Earth Civics have the same founder—Joseph Robertson—so the fit is natural and convenient. The Earth Civics look and logo are designed to communicate a few things consistently:
- That we are part of a shared planetary system;
- that Earth includes all of us;
- that our shared home is all the more evident because of the perspective of the Artemis II crew, who took pictures in which they were the only four human beings not depicted;
- that there is a delicate, but elegant, generosity inherent in the healthy functioning of the Earth system;
- that we build our future together, all of us.

We are all stewards; we can all see our own fragility and good fortune in an honest engagement with our planet, whether at the most local level or from a cosmic perspective.
Earth Civics, like science and democracy, is a collective endeavor to bring about a future of peace, justice, problem-solving, and dignity. That can be achieved by starting from these core principles:
- Rights — By virtue of existing, you are a climate stakeholder; you have a right to expect a healthy climate and a livable future.
- Participation — Inclusive civics allows for participatory design, where outcomes are attuned to human need and sustainable wellbeing.
- Efficacy — We support policies that drive clear, widespread, effective reductions in climate pollution, while building sustainable prosperity.
- Integrity — We believe the best solutions are informed by science, and use evidence to plan responsibly—in line with rights, participation, and efficacy.
